Training women from underprivileged backgrounds for jobs in the upmarket catering sector is the challenge taken up by the Table de Cana Marseille through its training program "Des Etoiles et des Femmes" with the support of Solidarity AccorHotels since 2015. Since the launch of the program, 36 women from the northern suburbs of Marseille have benefited from an unusual course of training with renowned head chefs.
"You don’t choose to go in for catering, it chooses you"
The object of the "Des Etoiles et des Femmes" program is to give 12 women from the town’s sensitive districts the opportunity to follow an exceptional culinary training course with top starred chefs. In 2016, 4 Chefs from the AccorHotels group took part in the adventure, offering advice and know-how to their apprentices: Dominique Frérard from Sofitel Marseille Vieux Port, Isabelle Alexandre from Pullman Marseille Palm Beach, Xavier Leleux from Pullman Marseille Provence and Nicolas Brenier from MAMA Shelter.
This training scheme has proved successful with 100% of those taking part obtaining a commis chef qualification in 2016/2017.

As a result of the success of this first initiative, Solidarity AccorHotels and the AccorHotels team reiterate their support for the Marseille program in 2017/2018 and are helping to repeat the program in Montpellier, with the collaboration of Chefs from the Pullman Montpellier Centre, Mercure Centre Comédie and Mercure Grande Motte hotels.
