Hospitality industry career initiation program for socially vulnerable young people
Vovô Vitorino is a Brazilian non-profit organization founded in 1994 with the aim of providing social, educational and career support to socially vulnerable children and young people.
In 2013, with support from the AccorHotels teams in Brazil, Vovô Vitorino has introduced a hospitality careers initiation program for young people. 80 young people aged between 16 and 29 and from one of the poorest communities in Curitiba, receive during 1 year theoretical trainings (career goal development, verbal presentation, social and personal development, etc.) and practical trainings (communication skills, entrepreneurship and introduction to hotel career opportunities, from restaurants to reception to housekeeping).
In 2013, the Accor Foundation* supported this pilot program in Curitiba.
* In 2013, the Accor Foundation became Solidarity Accor.
The participation of our employees is something incredible, they return from the NGO with a positive energy and feel really responsible for the development of the students from Vovô Vitorino. Actions like this are good for society, but also for improving the performance of our employees to feel motivated.
