Training of disadvantaged young single mothers in creation of jewelries.

Fundación Sol Naciente is a local NGO that was created in 1996 to welcome young pregnant women and single mothers in difficulty. The NGO provides them with medical, social and professional support during and after their pregnancy.

In 2012, AccorHotels Dominican Republic and the NGO together set up a professional training program for disadvantaged young mothers to enter the job market and gain independence. The program teaches them to make crafts jewelries from silver and local stones (amber and larimar).

The Accor Foundation* supports the pilot program with the training of 15 single mothers in 2013-2014 and the creation of the making-workshop in the NGO. The Accor Foundation*partially finances also the second group of participants with 15 new women in 2013-2014.

* In 2013, the Accor Foundation became Solidarity Accor.

This feeling "to help others" or to deal with somebody as my equal has always been in me so I tried to take the personal opportunity to make my contribution to the project.
