Training and economical insertion program for underprivileged families thanks to the promotion of their time-honored expertise
Yim Kids is a Thai NGO established by AccorHotels employees in 2005 to support all social initiatives in the country aimed at underprivileged communities. For several years, this NGO has helped the Huay Pha remote village in Chiang Mai province.
In 2009, Yim Kids created a training and economical insertion program for families of this village by enhancing the value of their traditional expertise: rice production and silk-weaving. Marketing and sales of these products from 2010 onwards in the 40 hotels of the Group in Thailand will guarantee village families income intended to put 127 children through school.
The Accor Foundation* supported this program during 3 years until it became autonomous.
* In 2013, the Accor Foundation became Solidarity Accor.
Floods in Thailand: the Accor Foundation gives financial support.
In Thailand, it is common practice for everyone (Thai people, Foreigners) to take part in helping the community. It is well illustrated by the Thai word “tamboon” which means “to donate with generosity and help others in needs“.
