Teaching of youths from sensitive areas to take photos to help them to see their neighborhood in a new light. Clichés Urbains creates projects that will help people to ‘reclaim’ the urban landscape around them and see it in a new light through their own photographs. Since several years, Clichés Urbains has offered photographic workshops every Saturday afternoon, grouping 15 young people from the Cité Mathis in the 19th arrondissement in Paris. Those workshops take place in two phases: the children have a course of an hour and half, and then apply pictures what they have learned by going out to photograph their district. At the end of the year their pictures are exhibited and offered to their neighborhood’s inhabitants. That represents a unique opportunity for discovering one’s neighborhood’s inhabitants through the eyes of the youngest! In 2009, the Accor Foundation supported this project for 15 young people. It pursued its support in 2010 for 13 additional young people. * In 2013, the Accor Foundation became Solidarity Accor.

« When Clichés Urbains was seeking volunteers to run the program, I was won over by the educational project, its very local approach, and its focus on action. »
