Support and training to help empower 2 farming groups of 60 women in difficulties.

Ivoire Développement Durable, an NGO established in 2007, aims at promoting sustainable development and strengthening Ivory Coast capacity to document and complete viable economic projects. Solidarity Accor supports this NGO since 2009.

In 2014, Ivoire Développement Durable set up a training programme seeking to empower 60 women gathered into two farming groups. The beneficiaries are taught agricultural techniques, management of the co-op, sales techniques and nutrition and hygiene. Part of the harvested vegetables will be distributed to the school canteens of the two villages to feed the 600 schoolchildren. Solidarity Accor supports the development of this programme for two years.

I witnessed the birth and the fulfilment of the project supported by AccorHotels Africa and Solidarity Accor to teach socially vulnerable young people to plant rubber trees. When the latex was first tapped, I had the occasion to meet the project's beneficiaries and participants. When an opportunity arose with this new project to support disadvantaged women, I did not hesitate to get involved for one minute!
