Empowerment of rural youth in trouble with gainful employment based on local plantations.

Ivoire Développement Durable, an NGO established in 2007, aims at promoting sustainable development and strengthening Ivory Coast capacity to document and complete viable economic projects. The NGO has supervised the planting of “10,000 trees for Ivory Coast” in 2007 and 2008 at the request of AccorHotels Africa.

Since 2009, the NGO has managed farming programs in 4 villages in difficulty trough gainful employment based on local plantations (rubber trees, palm trees, cacao…). Organized into cooperatives, 10 young people per village were trained and supervised to cultivate and sell these plants from 2014.

Since 2009, the Accor Foundation has supported and in particular the development of intercrops (maize, yams, potatoes, etc.) for faster production and self-consumption in each village.

* In 2013, the Accor Foundation became Solidarity Accor.

« In 2009, I had the occasion to visit one of the plantations undertaken by the young villagers and I was immediately blown away by the results and by the will and commitment of the beneficiaries. This made me want to help all the more. »
