“AccorHotels Center of Hope”: a new training centre for service and sales professions in Chennai
Hope Foundation, an Indian NGO founded in 1991, works to assist disadvantaged people through educational and professional training programmes.
AccorHotels employees in India and the Hope Foundation have been working together since 2012, when they established a first training centre for services and sales professions in New Delhi for youth from leper communities. Nearly 170 young people have benefited from training since the centre opened.
Following on the success of this project, the teams from AccorHotels and the association decided to expand the programme to a new city, Chennai. Solidarity Accor shares the costs of refurbishing the new facilities and training, with 60 young people joining the first class in Chennai.
To me, there is a crying and urgent need in India to provide employable skills to young women & men from less privileged social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds so they become self-reliant and raise their self-esteem through higher paying dignified jobs. Involvement in this Project of AccorHotels Centre of HOPE to be able to deliver this dream to the young adults, gives me a deep sense of fulfilment and satisfaction and somehow makes life far happier and worthwhile .
