“Accordéon de l’autonomie”: professional training for young people in hotel services.
Set up in 1991, the Nobody’s Children Foundation has the following goals:
- To protect children and teenagers against violence and sexual abuse;
- To improve the situation of those involved in legal proceedings;
- To provide aid and support for children, teenagers and their families.
The staff of the Novotel Warszawa Centrum have worked for many years alongside the Nobody’s Children Foundation to bring many underprivileged young people into the hotel to find out more about hotel industry careers. In 2012, they wished to go further and to set up the “Accordéon de l’autonomie”: training and employability program to enable socially vulnerable young people to become self-sufficient. Several companies (AccorHotels, Dalkia, Gefco Polska, Norauto, L’Oréal, Sodexo, etc.) take part in this program allowing young people to discover many professional activities and receive appropriate training (waiter, housekeeper, office employee, mechanic, hair stylist, etc.).
In 2012, the Accor Foundation* supported the launch of the pilot program which enables 20 young people to be trained. In 2013 and 2014, Solidarity Accor pursued this support to allow 50 other young people to get trained to the hotel services careers.
* In 2013, the Accor Foundation became Solidarity Accor.
Accordeon of Autonomy is changing lives of about 30 youngsters every year. It’s extremely satisfying for employees of Novotel Warsaw Centre and ibis Warsaw Old Town to see beneficiaries getting started with professional careers.
With the expertise of Solidarity Accor, we are not only helping people to get autonomous but also showing to local communities, business partners and our hotel guests, values that are important to AccorHotels Group.
