Emergency Fund to help families touched by the forest fires in 2009
The Australian Red Cross is an NGO that provides crisis first aid and care for the most vulnerable – in Australia in this case, and around the world. Its volunteers provide hands-on help when armed conflict or natural disasters hit. The Red Cross counts 60,000 members and volunteers in Australia.
Further the forest fires of February 2009, the Australian Red Cross launched a national appeal for funds to help Australian inhabitants touched by the forest fires.
The Accor Foundation* responded and set up an emergency fund of €20,000 to help victims of this disaster. This contribution doubled the €20,000 that Accor Australia had already raised.
* In 2013, the Accor Foundation became Solidarity Accor.
