Bringing six local residents into employment by helping them to set up a social enterprise to manage water supplies
Eau et Vie is a French charity set up in 2008 to improve living conditions for families in developing countries by using social entrepreneurship to facilitate access to water and improve essential services (awareness of health and environmental issues and improving sanitation, waste management, fire prevention, etc.). The charity works in the Philippines, Bangladesh and Côte d’Ivoire.
In Yopougoun, one of the poorest districts of Abidjan, Eau et Vie is coordinating the creation of a social enterprise to install a water supply system. This operation has two goals: to make it easier for local residents to access clean water, and to train some of them so that they can join the social enterprise to maintain the system.
This year, Solidarity AccorHotels is supporting the creation of this initiative, which will provide work for six local people and facilitate access to water for 500 families (2,000 people) living in this struggling community.
