Creation of a ‘green careers’ training program for socially vulnerable young people
Green Youth Collective (GYC) is a Vietnamese NGO founded in 2013 to set up a ‘green careers’ training program for socially vulnerable young people in Ho Chi Minh City.
This professional training alternates theoretical courses (introduction to ‘green careers’, English language lessons, introduction to the world of work, etc.) and practical courses (maintenance of a 6,000 square meter organic vegetable garden, creation of green boxes, etc.) and internships in the partner companies. This training program will prepare the young people involved for a number of different career paths, from urban gardening to planted roofs and walls, organic farming, soil irrigation, and many others.
The Accor Foundation* supported the pilot program which enable 12 young people in difficulty to be trained. In 2015, Solidarity Accor continues its support for the training of 30 young people.
* In 2013, the Accor Foundation became Solidarity Accor.
With great pleasure are myself and the team and Novotel Saigon Centre supporting The Green Youth Collective project. Environmental awareness in youths is a very important topic. We are proud to play a role in that and we look forward to working closely with them for the foreseeable future to even further increase environmental awareness throughout Vietnam.
