Integration of young disabled people by supplying appropriate sports equipment.
Founded in 2009, Avi Sourire is a French organization set up to encourage the social integration of people suffering from motor, visual, hearing or mental deficiencies through rowing and better knowledge of the environment.
On 5 to 15 April 2013, with the “Je cours pour toi” association, Sandrine Jouot, an AccorHotels employee, took part with 4 other people and Gérard Marras, a visually impaired person, in the Marathon des Sables (a 240 km foot race in the Moroccan part of the Sahara). Through this challenge, runners supported the Avi Sourire association by helping it to purchase equipment suitable for youngsters with disabilities to practice rowing in complete safety. Sport is a means of inclusion and reintegration and offers them the opportunity to mix socially with non-disabled people.
The Accor Foundation* completed this support by enable 20 young people to benefit from these sport equipment.
* In 2013, the Accor Foundation became Solidarity Accor.
The smiles on their faces, the happiness in their eyes... This experience proves that with a positive attitude we can always succeed in our projects, we can surpass ourselves... These young people provide the best possible example!
