“Design of Digital and Social Inclusion »: training of young people in difficulty in computer to enable them to have professional insertion
Amor Em Cristo is an organization created in April 2001. Its objective is to take in disadvantaged young people and provide them with schooling, social assistance and meals, plus training in various activities that will help them develop professional skills. The association is located in the favela of Sorocaba.
In 2009, Amor Em Cristo ran a pilot computer training course for 120 young people from 10 to 16 years-old, enabling them to acquire basic computing skills. In 2010, the organization sought to widen the scope of this project for young people, but also and most importantly for their parents so they can also find work thanks to computing. The Amor Em Cristo center has therefore taken on the role of regional employment agency.
The Accor Foundation* supported the evolution of this project in 2010 by financing more computer materials.
* In 2013, the Accor Foundation became Solidarity Accor.
I realized that I work in a company that cares about the world. I could never imagine that this little association, in a small city in Brazil, could be helped by any large company. It was very nice for me to know that and it gives motivation to continue this work.
