United Kingdom: The Springboard youngsters graduate!
On Friday, April 15th, 18 young people from the Springboard charity gathered to celebrate their graduation at the Académie AccorHotels, located on the premises of the Novotel London West! This official ceremony, bringing together the Charity staff and many Group employees, marked the end of 5 weeks of intensive training in the hotel and catering business trades.
The "Hospitality Futures" programme covered client reception and restaurant waiter duties, self-confidence, professional gatherings, preparing for job interviews, etc. The programme offered by the Springboard Charity has had a strong impact on this fourth class of beneficiaries, deeply transforming their lives in a few weeks. Some of the young graduates spoke about this impact: "This is the first time someone takes care of me"; "I have met people with whom I would otherwise never have crossed paths"... And true careers have been born: "After my internship in the kitchens, I know I want to be a Chef!". These very positive results were especially made possible by the strong involvement of the London AccorHotels teams, who regularly mentor the trainees on internships.
The graduation ceremony marks the end of the high-quality training received by these young people, who were surrounded on this special day by representatives of the charity, including Shabbir Malik, the training programme manager and Dee Smith, in charge of partnerships; by the AccorHotels group employees involved with the programme, such as Fran Carr, human resources manager Midscale and project holder, Christine de Longevialle, Managing director of Solidarity AccorHotels; as well as by Sinnitta, a former Charity trainee who now works at the Novotel. A promising role-model for many of these youngsters!
