Solidarity Week 2015: 10th edition, more and more members!
At the beginning of December 2015, we announced the launch of Solidarity Week, which gave the Group's employees the opportunity to organise one or more solidarity initiatives for the beneficiaries of an association of their choice.
Many of them rallied round for this 10th edition: a record number of teams and hotels made commitments in more than 30 different countries!
What initiatives were carried out? Who are the beneficiaries? We would like to give you an overview of these original and inspiring initiatives…
Some key figures!
Some initiatives around the world!
In Egypt, the Novotel Cairo Airport dedicated an afternoon to original and varied activities for around 20 orphaned children with disabilities. A magic and puppet show, drawing and colouring workshops to music, lunch and snacks, etc. A meaningful moment of recreation for the children in the company of the hotel's teams!
In Europe and more precisely in Germany, the teams at 12 hotels (Novotel, ibis, Mercure) rallied round in favour of refugees mainly by organising collections of basic necessities (clothes, hygiene products, shoes, etc.) and fundraising. Over 800 migrants benefited from this initiative.
In Asia, the Pullman Bangkok King Power arranged a garage sale in the hotel to raise funds for orphaned children from the association, Rajvithi Home for Girls. Furniture, decorative objects and other gadgets were put on sale in order to raise funds for the purpose of buying hygiene products for the children of the association. THB 16,115 (the equivalent of EUR 400) was collected and 70 gift bags were distributed to the orphans.
In the United States, the teams at the Sofitel New York joined forces with The Bowery Mission, which supports homeless people. Almost 200 breakfasts were distributed by our employees involved!
Further south in Latin America and more precisely in Mexico, the teams at ibis Juarez Consulado devoted their time to helping elderly persons from the association, My Hope, who are facing difficulties and are very isolated. The employees spent an afternoon with the association's beneficiaries and also donated hygiene products and food to improve their day-to-day lives.
In 2015, commitment for the Solidarity Week was very high, varied and had an impact. We would like to thank all the participants for taking part and look forward to 2016 for a week encouraging even more solidarity!
