Solidarity in all its forms!

For over ten years, AccorHotels has celebrated solidarity throughout the world in December, during Solidarity Week!

Its goal? For a maximum number of Hotels belonging to the Group to undertake a solidarity action working with the local charity of their choice, acting in favour of the disadvantaged communities around them. A time of warmth and sharing, that has become part of the group's ambition to make hospitality of the heart a beacon that transcends borders!

Solidarity Week 2016 in figures...

"This year, we managed to double the number of hotels taking part, it is extremely motivating! The greater the involvement of our employees, the more the actions carried out become meaningful," enthuses Christine de Longevialle, Delegate General of the Solidarity AccorHotels endowment fund.

A leveraged impact!

The motto for this new edition of Solidarity Week? Working hand in hand, we can leverage the impact of our actions! The AccorHotels employees understood this clearly.

So for instance, in China, the hotels in a score of cities joined forces to support the same cause: the fight against child blindness in rural areas. The hotels carried out numerous initiatives such as charity bazaars, bake sales, etc. for the purpose of collecting funds for the Orbis charity. Overall, the involvement of 4,500 employees made it possible to raise 10,000 euros to support the charity.

This mobilization was developed in many properties across the world:

  • In Lyon (France), with the support of the city's hotels to Electricians Without Borders for the Feast of Lights: 2,500 lamps were purchased for the benefit of the charity and gifted to the Group's customers.
  • In Brazil, the 23 hotels in Rio de Janeiro met at Flamengo beach for a massive clean-up operation working together with the Sinergy Club of Rio, while employees from 25 hotels in São Paulo took part in a blood drive.
  • In Jakarta (Indonesia), the teams of 36 hotels took a stand against AIDS by organising a large conference to raise awareness among 300 students and by making a significant food donation to the Yayasan Pelita Ilmu centre welcoming young infected children.

Our commitment was expressed in 47 countries, in support of a large number of causes. Support for disadvantaged children and the sick or isolated is what most touched the group employees and accounted for 65% of the actions organised.

So sign up to make Solidarity Week December 2017 at AccorHotels an increasingly popular event!
