Solidarity Challenges: Going the extra mile together for a good cause
Run, relay, play, create, surpass yourself: the things that inspire us can also change lives. By dedicating creative efforts or physical feats to a cause, AccorHotels employees add generosity to their perpetual drive for excellence.
These are the “Solidarity Challenges” of which the following are good examples.

In 2016, several London AccorHotels teams were inspired to offer their support for non-profit organizations that facilitate training and employment opportunities for disadvantaged local communities.
Putting their athletic prowess to the test, our staff turned out in support of two major London events: the Color Run in June and a rowing race in October. We look back on both highlights of the year.
A very colorful race
Last June, teams from three London Novotels (the Novotel London West, Novotel London Paddington and Novotel London Blackfriars) took part in the 5K Color Run to raise money for the Springboard Charity, a non-profit NGO partnered by Solidarity Accorhotels since 2012. To provide even more support for this sporting challenge, they also organized a fundraising event that collected around €2,000 for the Springboard Street to Success project that is helping 25 highly vulnerable young people back into work.
As part of their professional training in hospitality management, these young people will be offered internships with Group hotels in London, where they will be able to hone their skills and gain real-life experience interacting directly with hotel guests.
Isabelle Macart, Talent & Culture Manager at the Novotel London West, tells us about this highly successful initiative which unites many stakeholders around a single cause "Employees, athletes, youth people in difficulty... Everyone contributes to the success of the operation! We have been committed for many years with Springboard and we wanted to reinforce our involvement towards the community by giving the opportunity of a new start to young people at risk of becoming homeless." A charity rowing challenge on the Thames
Last October, six staff from the Novotel London Greenwich embarked on a mammoth and very English challenge: to row 8½ miles of the River Thames as a team. The Meridian Pull challenge gave the six competitors the chance to combine their passion for rowing with support for a very worthwhile charity by raising money that will support the training programs run by the AHOY Centre charity. The €3,000 they raised is now helping to provide watersports training for 10 highly vulnerable young people.
Florian Jourdhier, General Manager of the Novotel London Greenwich, tells us about the impact this partnership has had "With The AHOY we have found a charity where we can see directly how our involvement is helping to give others less fortunate the chance to truly succeed."
Solidarity AccorHotels is proud to support our staff in all their solidarity initiatives, including these two ambitious projects. To give a further helping hand to the initiatives supported, the foundation match-funds all the money raised by hotel teams.
