Poland: official ceremony for the Accor Foundation’s contribution to the MaMa Foundation

On April 5, 2011, the MaMa Foundation has received, thanks to the commitment of the employees of Orbis S.A., a donation of €41,000 from the Accor Foundation to promote the creation of a local know-how workshop, through the social and professional reintegration of 15 young single mothers.

The ceremony took place at the Mercure Warszawa Grand hotel in Warsaw in the presence of Laurent Picheral, President of the Orbis Group, Sylwia Chutnik, President of the MaMa Foundation, and Marie-Caroline Bizet, Delegate-General of the Accor Foundation.

Proposed by Katarzyna Nowak (Internal Communication, Accor Poland), the « Mothers’ cooperative » project belongs to the Local know-how category.

The aim of this project is to help 15 young single mothers reintegrate society and the world of work. The MaMa Foundation will set up a workshop producing ethnic-inspired modern articles to train these young mothers in arts and crafts techniques and to raise their awareness of local folklore. They will thus make articles (jewellery, ceramics, bags, etc.) that they will be able to sell to provide themselves with an income and become independent.

The Mama Foundation is a Polish NGO established in June 2006 to advance women’s rights and to eradicate the discriminatory attitudes barring them from jobs, and social and cultural circles.
