Official ceremony for the Accor Foundation’s contribution to Pessac Rugby

On April 11, 2011, Pessac Rugby has received a donation of €12,000 from the Accor Foundation to promote the training and insertion of young people in difficulty thanks to rugby.

Proposed by Rémy Souffleux (General Manager ibis Bordeaux Pessac), the “Saige Rugby Tour’s” belongs to Training and insertion category.

The objective of this project is to treat the disadvantaged youths living in Cité de Saige (Pessac) to an opportunity to discover and play rugby thanks to the construction of a pitch at the foot of the buildings in Cité de Saige housing estate. The project aims to share with them the values that rugby stands for (solidarity, respect, team spirit, support…), building social ties and promoting mixity (Pessac Rugby will be transferring a few of its training sessions to the new pitch).

Pessac Rugby, a French association, was established in 2005 to promote rugby – and play it. It has been running its Street Rugby project, introducing people to rugby in various parts of town – including Cité de Saige, a hotspot where underprivileged youths now play this sport – since 2006.
