Looking back on 2014
In 2014, Solidarity Accor continued growing, strengthening its solidarity actions and its base in the countries where Accor is present.
It supported 29 additional projects and crossed new borders, since Solidarity Accor conducted projects in three new countries: Burma, Chad and Benin. A truly international scope of action, as Solidarity Accor supported projects in over 41 countries.
Accor employees are at the heart of these projects: 750 of them were involved locally and took active part in the implementation and monitoring of the actions concerning their project. An investment that is bearing fruit, because in 2014, 2,000 more beneficiaries received aid and over 9,000 were supported indirectly.
Feedback on one of the 2014 projects: In Thailand, Solidarity Accor supports the IECD charity on a project to train young Karens in the various trades of the hotel and catering business. This project is sponsored by Christophe Lejeune, Director of Human Resources for Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and the Philippines.
The 1st edition in 2013 allowed 25 young people to be trained, with a rate of 84% of positive outcomes. The 2nd edition in 2014 saw 25 additional youngsters receive training. The involvement of Accor teams in this project was in particular implemented by receiving the trainees at the Chiang Mai ibis for an internship, and participation in the Sustainable Hospitality and Tourism conferences by HCTC, held at the Novotel Bangkok Platinum on Friday, June 13th, 2014.
In 2014 Solidarity Accor used its new ability to raise funds to implement a first donation collection action in collaboration with Le Club Accorhotels. Now, holders of the Le Club Accorhotels loyalty card can transform their loyalty points into donations for Solidarity Accor (2,000 points = €40).
And at the end of the year, even more employees took part in the 9th edition of the Solidarity Week, which took place from 8 to 12 December. Over 150 hotels and head offices in 40 countries joined forces in the name of solidarity to undertake various actions beside local charities.
2014 was a very good year for Solidarity Accor. The increasing number of projects supported and the general involvement of the Group's employees in support of these actions allow the populations we assist to face their future with greater peace of mind.
In 2015, through its ability to collect donations from the Accor Group's employees and customers, Solidarity Accor wishes to support an even greater number of beneficiaries around the world.
