France: The Ambassadors of Sofitel Paris la Défense – second year of commitment to the “Apprentis d’Auteuil”

Perhaps you remember that on Sunday 23 June 2013 a team of 7 Ambassadors from Sofitel Paris la Défense ran the "L’Equipe 10 km" race in Paris and collected donations for the Apprentis d’Auteuil Association. Solidarity Accor supported this solidarity initiative and sent a cheque for 2,500 € to the association to buy a dishwasher for the school in Thiais.

12 Sofitel Ambassadors took up the challenge on 15 June in Paris this year. They were all keen to surpass themselves as Sofitel Paris la Défense's best runners, and had met up twice a week for some intensive training. And so on D-Day all the runners had no problems (well, almost none!) taking up the challenge with an outcome beyond their expectations.

The team wants to go even further in its commitment to young people on professional training courses at the Apprentis d’Auteuil Institute in Thiais: a hotel visit, personal assistance from the chef, meetings with employees etc. The hotel will also organise a collection to help the association buy professional kitchen equipment.

Take a look at what the runners have to say!

Guillaume Roussillon, Sales Manager: "Running the race allows hotel teams to join forces in a common objective - performance. This year a lot of people wanted to get involved, and we all had a good time during our training and the race itself."

Magalie Sparsa, Assistant Reception Manager: "I'm just a beginner, and I had hardly ever run before this race. But, after all the training with our group and also on my own, I certainly got into it and surpassed my own capacity. I would never have thought before that I could run 10 kilometres."

Mickael Chasset, Commis Chef: "I love running, and so when I heard the hotel was going to take part in the "L’Equipe 10 km" race, I was one of the first to put my name down. Running in a team with people from other departments you don't work with every day was also a good way of getting together and meeting other staff. There was a good feeling among us, and I really enjoyed myself!"
