France: Cheque awarded to the Promofemmes association

Thursday, 6 March, 2014 at the Novotel Bordeaux Centre Meriadeck in France, the Accor teams, led by Marie-Françoise Becerro, Regional Employment Director West/Southwest and the Promofemmes Association held a press conference to present Solidarity Accor's renewed support and donate a cheque for €19,000 to the "Energie au féminin" project. Supported since 2008 by Accor employees in Bordeaux, this programme aims to integrate immigrant women in the cleaning and service sectors.

Ekaterina, a young Russian woman living in France since 2009, and Senaït, who arrived from Eritrea in 2010, have both received professional training. They wanted to be present to talk about their experience. Ekaterina, who was offered a seasonal contract until November following her training, thanked Amélie Harribey, Housekeeper at Novotel Bordeaux Centre Meriadeck for her hospitality and valuable advice.

Other speakers also praised Accor employees' involvement. Thus, Bertrand Blaquié, Director of Operations, Novotel Grand Ouest, said he was "proud that this action, supported by Solidarity Accor, has been ongoing for several years." He particularly highlighted the commitment of Martine Castaing, one of the group's young retirees, who has become one of the most active volunteers of the association. Catherine Bocquet, President of the Association, also talked about this involvement by explaining the success of this programme: "without Accor Hotels and the involvement of their teams, without the financial support of Solidarity Accor, the number of women who have found their way into employment would not have been the same at all!”
